Wish List

The designers at The Lilypad got together with the designers at CatScrap and put together this huge collab, Wish List, that’s free with a $10 purchase right now. When I say huge, I mean HUGE! There’s over 70 papers and 175 elements, not to mention templates, lightroom presets and a couple of hybrid printables prepared by yours truly!

To celebrate, some of the CT girls and designers have made some quickpages to share with you in a blog hop. I’m the last stop!

I hope you’re enjoying your DSD weekend so far! I’m finally getting a chance to sit down at the computer and do a bit of scrapping (and maybe some shopping too!!) and thought I’d take the opportunity to share my new template and some of the projects that the CatScrap CT made. A couple of months ago I came across the cutest little box that had chocolate filled koalas in it and, as I was consuming them, I was turning the box around and around in my hand and working out what the dimensions would have to be in order to be able to print it on a single sheet of letter-sized paper. Geometry was NOT my strong subject in high school so it took many hours spent in front of the computer screen and lots of trial prints, but I love the way that it turned out.

The Promised Peek

When I originally promised a sneak peek two months ago, I had every intention of actually posting one and releasing a new product. Since that time however, another project of mine came to fruition and we welcomed our fourth son, Andrew William, into our family on September 12.

Recovering from the delivery and adjusting to the changes this little bundle brought into our lives became the priority, and I had to set scrapping and designing aside for a little bit. Now that he’s almost two months old, and more importantly, sleeping through the night, the desire to create has returned in full force. Just in time too, because Saturday is Digital Scrapbooking Day!! I finally have a new template coming out and here’s the peek at what I’ve done with it…

There’ll be lots going on at CatScrap this weekend, challenges and games in the forums, a store-wide sale and free collab with $10 purchase, so make sure you stop by!

Pixels 2 Paper

The inspiration behind this new line of templates is my love for card making. In this new age of fast communication with email, facebook and text messaging, it’s still nice to get a handwritten note in the mail, and extra special if the card is handmade! So I thought I’d put together some layered greeting card templates and see if anyone else felt the same way that I do.

Introducing Pixels 2 Paper, Volume 1

Each paper layer has its own mat layer, and the shadows are all separate so that you can do as much, or as little, assembly after printing as you want to, or have time for. You can use only digital papers and elements, or mix it up with whatever “traditional” supplies you might already have. Of course, they also come in a “ready to print” version for those who might want to just print a purely digital version out, or for when you remember you need a birthday card five minutes before you have to walk out the door! (Not that I’ve ever had that experience!!)

I hope these templates inspire you to take a few moments to send a handwritten, handmade card to someone special!

A New Adventure

I would have never guessed that I would be designing, much less designing hybrid templates, yet here I am. It all started when I was introduced to the concept of printing out digital supplies and I realized that never again would I have to resist cutting up a beautiful paper for fear of “ruining” it; now I could always print another. The more I experimented, the more I loved it, but still the thought of designing had never crossed my mind until this persuasive lady that I create for, Shen (of creashens fame), sent me a message and asked me to consider designing for CatScrap. At first I just laughed, “me, design?” and told her that I didn’t think I was cut out for the job. But I couldn’t stop thinking about the possibility of trying it out; all of a sudden I was looking at the various boxes and containers that crossed my path and wondering, “could I make a template like that?” I’d be piecing together the layers for a greeting card in Photoshop and thinking about how to make it simple to use for crafters and non-crafters alike. So, finally, I told Shen that I’d give it a try, and then I started working on my first template. And here is the result of my effort:

It’s such a fun card to receive, with all the panels and spots to write little notes, but figuring out the measurements for the card base and all the insets can be tricky. So, I did the work for you! Each of paper pieces includes its own shadow on a separate layer, now you don’t have to worry about matting the individual pieces if you don’t want to… you can simply print the whole card base as one piece and then embellish as little, or as much, as you want. I thought it also needed its own matching envelope, so I included a template for that as well. Included in the download is a 7 page PDF with a tutorial for assembling the card, and tips for printing either the digital or hybrid version.

And, of course, what would a grand opening be without a sample to try? So I put together a layered greeting card and envelope set that’s available in my CatScrap shop free of charge.
